About Me

Born and raised in Florida. Educated in Washington, D.C. and Seattle. Lived east coast, west coast, and even on the Last Frontier for a brief stint (aka Alaska) while exploring parts of our beautiful globe. Currently enjoying Seattle-area livin' with my husband and son.

So what about any of this qualifies me as a therapist? None of it. But, all of it informs my work. I bring my whole self to the therapy room. I believe one of the most important parts of my job is to fully show up and be present for you.

Jenny Cooke Malstrom,

Therapeutic style and experience

I view people in the context in which they exist. This means I believe that when we change, the context in which we exist changes as well, including those around us.

Sometimes change might look like accepting what is, and I employ mindfulness and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques for this type of work.

Other times, change might be something like considering changing your pattern in your intimate relationships, and Emotion Focused Therapy and sex therapy can help aide in that. You might be living with infertility, considering fertility treatments or resolving your family building in another way, and for this, my training in Medical Family Therapy helps me to serve you and your partner(s).

Or, perhaps you want to change your relationship with alcohol or drugs, or have a loved one struggling with these issues. I work from a strengths-based perspective to help you connect to your self and others during either reduction of use or choice of sobriety.

I've been described as a quick-study, am committed to furthering equity in our world, and like to bring humor into the therapy room.
